Office environment and how hard employees work have always been linked – but now research has shown that a well-designed office can increase productivity by as much as 20%. Making an improvement needn’t cost the earth even if you decide to go for a complete refurbishment and the resulting improvements to office morale and productivity would be seen to be money well spent.
So what do workers really want from their working environment?
1) Good lighting – natural light is always the best option but where that’s not possible it’s best to get the best lighting system you can afford, it increases visual clarity, mood and alertness.
- 2) Plants and nice accessories – plants increase creativity and help reduce the amount of airborne bacteria!
- 3) Nice wall accessories – the ideal would be to have a stunning view of the sea or mountains but where that’s not possible make do with pictures or canvases.
- 4) Bright colours – colours affect our mood and how our brains work – different colours help us focus ,relax and problem solve .If you can’t paint your office different colours think about desk accessories, office furniture and chairs that come in a variety of colours.
