The Environment is on everyone’s minds and whilst we can’t all be saints and live on nothing and use nothing, a few daily weekly, monthly changes can make a difference. Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking at 8 behaviours we can change to make less of an impact. Here are the first four
Become More Aware of Resources:
Start by living with a greater awareness of the resources that you use in your daily life. Pay attention to how you choose to travel, to use water and products that were made by manufacturing practices. Awareness is what will help you make environmentally friendly choices.
Practice Conservation:
With your new awareness of how natural resources are used in your life, start to practice conservation. This can be as simple as turning off the lights as you leave a room or turning off the tap whilst you brush your teeth.
Plant Trees:
Trees are necessary for us to survive. They give oxygen, fruits, clean the air, provide shelter to wildlife and prevent soil erosion. With this in mind, perhaps find a shady landscape around your home or business that can help you to reduce consumption of energy. They also create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment.
Conserve Water:
Energy is required to pump water from rivers or lakes into your premises, which is why it is key to conserve water where possible. It not only reduces the amount of energy that is needed to filter it, it also minimises water pollution and health risks. A few ways to conserve water are – take short showers, fix leaking pipes, use fans and natural ventilation, switch off heating when not in use, and avoid washing up under running taps.
